Okay, so it has almost been a whole YEAR since my last post. There has been so much that has gone on obviously. It seems that when the most interesting and exciting things are going on in our lives is when I am the worst at recording them. However, I have a new resoution to blog again at least once a month and to hopefully fill in the last year that has passed me by so quickly. There have been some great moments and even better pictures of the boys. I am excited to get this going again!

Today Chase achieved two milestones simultaneously. Both have been coming for a while, but it was kind of fun to have Dan home from work as Chase started crawling for real. Once he got to the ottoman he pulled himself up to standing position. We all clapped and cheered and he was so proud of himself. He didn't even stop smiling as he toppled over onto his side. That is pretty good for him considering that he is a lightweight when it comes to a pain threshold.

Chasers has been very mobile even without crawling as he would roll around and scoot or do a little army crawl to go backward. He also would practice pushups on his hands and tippy toes in an attempt to crawl I think. His forn really is perfect though. He is such a strong little guy!

We are in! Dan got the call from Don Rosenfield lastnight around 7:00 pm. He missed the call to his cell phone and got the message a few mins after he called. I didn't even know his phone had rung, so when Dan put the phone up to my ear, I was like "what are you doing?" Then I heard who it was and what he had to say. Congratulations, Dan has been accepted to the LGO program at MIT!?!?! What! I have NO idea what to do. I had been secretly praying that he wouldn't get in, so we wouldn't have to make this difficult decision. Its like, how can we turn down MIT, and on the other how can we make it work?

Early in January, Dan got a phone call from one of the representatives at MIT telling him that he had been chosen to come out and interview for the LGO (Masters of Business and Masters of Engineering degree program!) It is crazy to think that he got that far in the process since he is a smart normal white male competing against so many more guys of that same make. They really like to diversify the LGO group since it consists of only 50 students per year.

So, at the end of the month, we all flew out to Boston and stayed with my sister and her family (in their tiny apt.) so Dan could interview. Interestingly enough, I had gotten sick the week before we were to go and the boys also got the bug or flu or whatever it was, just not as bad as it hit me. It was only a 24 hour thing, but it knocked you down hard...it was awful. So we got ready to leave Wednesday night so that we can fly all Tursday and Dan can interview on Friday afternoon at 2:00 and I was so happy that I was feeling better. However, Thursday morning dawns, and Dan is floored with this flu! The poor guy had to be on airplanes and airports all day, have 2 layovers, no where to lay down, throwing up etc., and not able to prepare for his interview all the while his 2 kids going crazy. Dan says that is arguably the worst day of his life! It was so sad. By the time we got to Boston we were all so worn out and defeated that when we pulled out our stroller from gate check and noticed it was missing a wheel, we couldn't do anything bu laugh. so I pushed 25 lb Chase around in a 3-wheeled stroller with a dying husband and stir crazy 2-year-old. It was one of those days!

Anyway, the interview went well enough Dan says. He couldn't really get a read on the lady that talked with him, but I am sure he did fine. I am totally torn at this point about going to Boston. I know it would be an incredible opportunity, but not only is it so far away and expensive, but we have a house that we are underwater with, 2 kids to support, and it is an intense program. Only time will tell.

As for the kiddos, Chase got his first tooth (on the bottom) early this month and then the one next to it popped through by the end of the month! Great job Chasers. Unfortunately we ALL feel his pain. My kids are not easy teethers. Tyler is ever impressive as he has mastered all of the sounds to the letters in the alphabet. He also loves to learn all the words to songs and needs to know their names and who sings them if it is on the radio. He loves primary songs the best I think and is totally into the Book of Mormon right now. His favorite story is about Abinidi and King Noah. We talk about them all the time.

I think this is my favorite picture I have ever taken. This is when Chasers was just learning to sit up on his own in early Jan. He was using the little toy for balance and I wanted to get some shots of him sitting up and he just had the cutest expression when I snapped the picture!



Chasers rolling all over the place. His only mode of transportation at this point since he hardly gets carried around since he is WAY too heavy!

I can't believe it is already 2010 and that I am 28! Next year I will be turning 30...aaaah! Granted, I do have about 2 years before that, but the fact that it is within site is scary, I feel so old. However, I look around me a see what I have and what we have accomplished so far and I am satisfied.


Dan has now been accepted to both the ASU and BYU MBA programs. As of now, it looks like we will be moving one way or the other since staying here and going to ASU means that Dan would be working full time and going to a night program. We just feel that the education just won't be as good and the fact that we would't see him at all for the next two years makes a full time program more appealing.


It is so exciting as well as so sad to think about moving from AZ. We love it here and love our friends and ward and the fact that family is so close. But Dan and I both feel like this is the time in our lives to kind of shake things up a bit to better his career and our future.

It is such a comfort though to have my family with me wherever we go. Chase is just getting to be so much fun now that he is more interactive and sitting up on his own. This month he mastered sitting up and rolling all around on the floor as his means of transportation. He is very successful at maneuvering around and getting into things I didn't think capable of a kid still laying on the floor. I am not excited to see how much trouble this little dude will get in to. He is such a good laugher too and is becoming such a happy boy. Now that he is eating solids and is more 'regular' he has relaxed a lot and is much more pleasant since he isn't in pain I suppose.
